Check for Update Failing

Check for Updates Failing

Question

I am trying to run a Check for Update from within Titan Server and it is not working. What can I do?

Reasoning

I want to see if there is a more recent version of the Titan software. If so, I want to update to the latest.

Answer

If a Check for Update process is failing, there are two main items that would result in this issue.

1) Check for Updates may not be enabled within the configuration file for Titan.

2) Traffic from the Check for Updates URL may be blocked. Each can be resolved.

Pre-requisites
  1. Have Titan Server installed on your system

  2. Admin Credentials to login to the Titan Server Administrator Interface

  3. Access and permissions to change allowed traffic through firewall/network

 Steps
  1. Navigate to this location on your server system: C:\Program Files\South River Technologies\SrxServer

  2. Find and Open appsettings.cs.json (or appsetings.json) with any text editor (e.g. Notepad)

    1. Ensure the value for check for updates is set to enabled. Save and close the file

    2. Restart the service for Titan Server. Open the Server Admin UI and try the Check for Updates again

  3. If the issue remains, ensure traffic from the proper URL is whitelisted / traffic is allowed. URL is:

    1. https://srtcdnstorage.blob.core.windows.net

    2. Once traffic is confirmed allowed, open the Titan Server Admin UI and try the Check for Updates again
