How To Use UNC as user home directory

How can I set a UNC path as a user's home directory?

Reason

To centralize user data storage on a network share for easier access, management, and backup.

Answer

There are two ways to achieve this:

  1. Assign the UNC path as the default user home directory, or
  2. Assign it as a custom home directory for specific users.
 

Steps

A. Assign as Default user home directory.

 

  1. Login to Admin Web UI


  2. Navigate to 
    1. Domain
    2. Server    
    3. Files/Directories
    4. Set UNC path as User Data Directory
    5. Click Save




    B. Assign as Custom user home directory.

     

    1. Login to Admin Web UI


    1. Navigate to 
    1. Domain
    2. Server    
    3. User
    4. Select User and Click Edit
    5. Select Edit User & Assigned Groups



    1. Go to Page 3/3 of User Information by clicking next
    1. set Home Directory to “Use custom directory”
    2. Put UNC path in Custom Home Directory field
    3. Check Create Home Directory Now
    4. Click Finish

    Try to login your users.
